Bay Pointe Golf Club Wedding | Michigan Wedding Photography
May 28, 2015
Southeast Michigan wedding photographs at Bay Pointe Golf Club in West Bloomfield, MI was provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the very best wedding photographers in Michigan. I have to tell you, dear blog post readers, that I fell head over heels in love with Alisha and John on their wedding day! Yes - this post is all about me and my love for them. :-) No - I won't do that to you. I know you want to hear all about Alisha and John and what happened behind the scenes so here goes. I may sprinkle a few visions of sugarplums and such here and there throughout this post because this couple is just too adorable and I want the world to know it!  The day was absolutely gorgeous! We worried about rain just a tad because the days before the wedding were a bit "iffy" - but the day of was just gorgeous. I arrived early and met up with Jen House and her team who were working super hard transforming Bay Pointe's ballroom into everything Alisha dreamed of on her big day. Alisha was full of laughter and smiles. If she was nervous it didn't show. What I saw was excitement for her to see John. John was across the hall hidden away in the mens locker room waiting for us to take him to see his bride. We decided to do the first look by the lake. It had the best light at that time of the day and would allow John and Alisha a little alone time. It was perfect. I talked to John a bit as her nervously awaited his bride. He told me how much he loved Alisha and how he couldn't wait to see her. He didn't realize that she was walking to him. When she gently tapped his shoulder and he turned around neither of them could hold their emotions back. It was a lovely moment. We stood back to let them have their moment and photographed it from afar. I always tell my clients that this is the time I don't want to interrupt them - I want them to experience this moment together - in real time without distractions. Afterwards we headed around Bay Pointe's grounds and took some traditional and fun bridal portraits. Alisha and John had a fun and highly spirited group of friends that I LOVED working with! We met up with their immediate family for a few shots and then it was time to get Alisha down that aisle. Once the nuptials were said it was time for reception fun! Join me in wishing Alisha and John the happiest life together! They are a special couple and I will forever be greatful that they allowed me to spend their wedding day with them!

Michigan Winter Wedding Photos | Arnaldos and The Little Wedding Chapel in Southeast Michigan
Mar 19, 2015
Southeast MI winter wedding photography at the Little Wedding Chappel in Taylor and Arnoldo's in Riverview was provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the very best wedding photographers in Michigan. Snow, sleet, hail, wind, slush - it's called living in Southeast Michigan! I absolutely unequivocally am in love with winter weddings. The truth is, sometimes the weather just plain stinks. Let's face it, you are taking a chance by having a winter wedding. You could have a beautiful snow gently falling on the ground or you could have a lovely winter day with no wind and beautiful sun that warms you a bit. Most of the time, at least in Detroit, it's just darn cold, windy and icky. But there are those few times that it happens. The sun comes out for a brief moment and we are blessed with a few short minutes to take wedding portraits. That's pretty much how it went for Kelly and Ken.  Okay so as far as tough brides go, Kelly ranks pretty high on my scale. I've had some wonderfully tough couples this winter and Kelly and Ken are no exception. What I love the most about my winter couples this past year is that they've been in good spirits no matter what the weather threw at us.  Kelly and Ken had a very beautiful intimate ceremony at The Little Wedding Chapel in Taylor's Heritage Park. There wasn't a dry eye in the chapel as you can see from some of the photos below. Shortly after they said their I-Do's we headed out the door to the park. Now normally Heritage Park is a hot bed of activity. Photographers are swarming everywhere, people are walking their dogs, kids are playing ball, etc. On this day none of that happened because the day before this day there was a snow storm and the park wasn't plowed. Well shucks - it was just our luck right? How were we going to get any decent images with all that snow. When I say all that snow - I mean all that snow. I think there was at least 14" of snow - so just a little over a foot of white fluffy goodness. Ken and Kelly, being the amazing couple that they are didn't bat an eye. Kelly said, "Let's go - let's do this." She put her boots on and Ken held her wedding dress up for her and we made our way through the snow so they could have a few photographs to remember their day.  After we brushed off we headed to Arnoldo's for the wedding reception. Arnoldo's has this ceiling with twinkle lights. It's really interesting and makes you feel like you are under the stars. Their guests had a fabulous time and danced and danced. Congratulations to Kelly and Ken! Here are a few of my favorite images from your big day!

Detroit Michigan Wedding Photographer | Roostertail
Feb 23, 2015
Metro Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the Roostertail provided by Kellie Saunders and her team top Detroit, MI wedding photographers. I am going to call this blog post a tale of two right shoes! I have worked many, many weddings in my time as a wedding photographer in the Metro Detroit area. But never in all of my years have I met a bride with more spunk, more passion and the ability to see the positive in all things. Julia is simply amazing! We arrived at Julia's parent's home to photograph her getting ready for her big day as we normally do. Everything was going as planned. I photographed the bridal gown, the rings, the garter and the shoes - yes - the shoes. When I pulled Julia's shoes out of the box to snap a few images I immediately noticed that she had two right shoes. I said to myself - oh no! We had literally ten minutes to get to the church so I knew there wasn't time for her to get new shoes. I couldn't bring myself to tell her so I pulled her mom aside and whispered what I discovered. I knew that if anyone could softly break the news to Julia, it would be her mom. Well, a few minutes went by and I listened as Julia's mom explained what had happened. I waited for the tears. I waited for the cursing. I waited for the sadness. Well, I didn't get to witness any of that. Julia simply smiled and cheerfully said, "Well, if two right shoes is what they gave me, two right shoes is what I will wear." I was stunned. I said, "Julia, you can't walk down the aisle in two right shoes. What if you fall? Maybe one of your bridesmaids can give you their shoes?" She just looked at me and smiled and said, "Don't worry, I got this." Soon we arrived to the church and I witnessed Julia and her two right shoes walk gracefully down the aisle to meet her love Corey. Corey was so happy and proud to see his beautiful bride. Julia didn't miss a beat. The only thing that mattered to her was marrying the love of her life and nothing was going to make her unhappy on this day. Julia is just amazing!  After the nuptuals we headed out to a few spots in Detroit for their wedding photos. Boy it was cold, but what else can you expect on a January day in Michigan. Of course it was going to be cold. Even with the fridgid tempuratures, my seasoned Detroit wedding photography team was up to the challenge and Julia, Corey and their bridal party along with Julia's two right shoes had a blast going around the city for wedding photos.  The reception was held at the Roostertail, one of my all time Detroit favorite reception venues! It was beautifully decorated for a whimsical winter wedding where Julia and Corey's family and friends danced the night away. Join me in wishing them a lifetime of love, happiness and laughter!

The Diamond Center at the Suburban Collection | New Years Eve Michigan Wedding Pictures
Dec 31, 2014
Wedding pictures at the Diamond Center Suburban Collection in Novi, by Kellie Saunders and her team of top wedding photographers in MI. Creating unique Michigan wedding pictures on December 31st is not always easy. Michigan can be oh-so cold, blow you away windy and can get pretty darn slushy at this time of the year. I love a good challenge and this is why I love being a wedding photographer! Couples like Jessica and Tom make my job fun and keep me on my toes! It might get cold, it might get windy, it might even be slushy - but you wouldn't know it by looking at their wedding pictures. They had the most fantastic New Year's Eve Celebration ever at the Diamond Center and Suburban Collection! Let me back up and first tell you all about the ceremony. It was a beautiful traditional Catholic Mass at St. Patrick's of White Lake, MI, where my team of Michigan's best wedding photographers were able to capture some stunning images to help Jessica and Tom remember their big day. This fantastic couple then braved the bitter bitter cold as we stopped by Tom's firehouse for a few portraits.  Tom wanted a few wedding pictures with his fire truck and we were more than happy to oblige. These two were so amazing you couldn't even tell they were freezing their toes off! If you look at some of the images below, the sun came out for a brief moment so we had Jessica and Tom head over to the grassy area by the firehouse. Because they trusted us - we were able to capture a few frames that truly look like it was a warm summer's day. Those are some of my favorite portraits from their wedding day.   We had plans to go to downtown Milford for photos, but let's face it - New Years Eve was just plain freezing. Sometimes on wedding days, plans change because of weather or whatnot. So from the firehouse we headed to the Diamond Center for a wedding reception celebration that started both the new year, and this couple's new life as Mr. and Mrs. together off right! Congratulations Jessica and Tom!  Here are some of my favorite images from your New Year's Eve wedding.

Henry Ford Lovett Hall , Dearborn Michigan Wedding Photos | Brogan & Cody
Dec 28, 2014
Wedding pictures at the Henry Ford Lovett Hall and Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn, Michigan provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of Michigan's best wedding photographers. Cody and Brogan have such a rich and lovely story - I get a bit sentimental writing about it. I met Brogan when she was referred to me by some of my old co-workers from my publishing days. She held a job at one of the best advertising companies in Michigan (go team Valassis!!!). With her background she knew she had to meet with some of the best Michigan wedding photographer's for her Lovett Hall wedding. (Thanks Brogan for picking me!! Yay!!!). When we met she came alone and it's not often I get to chat with a bride solo and just talk about life and of course her wedding. Brogan couldn't keep the smile off her face when she talked about Cody. She told me how Cody was in the Army and that was the reason he wasn't at our initial meeting. He was living in North Carolina at the time.  She told me how they met at Hillsdale College and dated through their college years. She was originally from the Detroit area but Cody was from Southern Indiana. Brogan played volleyball and Cody played football while at Hillsdale. When Cody left for the Army in April, 2012 - letters were all they had. They missed each other terribly, but the Army being what the Army is, would not allow phone calls or email during training. It was pen and paper for these two. They had to communicate the old fashioned way - and that they did. Some couples would fall apart and just go their separate ways. But not Cody and Brogan. Their love for each other grew through each and every letter. They learned just how much they really loved each other because they had to take the time to think about each other as they wrote. In fact they fondly remember their letter writing days so much that they exchanged letters on their wedding day before they said their vows. It didn't take long for Cody to propose. He proposed to Brogan on December 22, 2012 and through their engagement they lived in separate states visiting each other as much as they could. Finally after all of their time apart - it was their wedding day! The day began at the Dearborn Inn where Brogan prepared for the big day. She got ready in the Patrick Henry house which was an elegant and gorgeous room to prepare in. Shortly after my arrival for portraits, we were off to Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn where they wed with a traditional Catholic Mass. Now let's not forget that this is Michigan and, well - it's darn cold in the winter. Our time for wedding pictures was limited with the tempurature and setting sun. We worked quickly but I'm so happy with the wedding photos we were able to capture. The reception was held at Henry Ford's Lovett Hall, where it was elegantly decorated. No detail was forgotten. The room was stunning. Their wedding cake was gorgeous and exactly how I pictured it would be knowing Brogan. My favorite detail were the cookies in the shape of the state of Michigan and Florida - representing where Brogan and Cody lived. Dinner was amazing as it always is with Henry Ford weddings and the happy couple danced the night away with their friends and family.  Soon after the wedding Brogan packed up her things and moved to North Carolina to be with Cody. Join me in wishing them the most happy life together! Congratulations Cody and Brogan!!! What a story and what a wedding you had!
