Henry Ford Lovett Hall , Dearborn Michigan Wedding Photos | Brogan & Cody
Dec 28, 2014
Wedding pictures at the Henry Ford Lovett Hall and Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn, Michigan provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of Michigan's best wedding photographers.
Cody and Brogan have such a rich and lovely story - I get a bit sentimental writing about it. I met Brogan when she was referred to me by some of my old co-workers from my publishing days. She held a job at one of the best advertising companies in Michigan (go team Valassis!!!). With her background she knew she had to meet with some of the best Michigan wedding photographer's for her Lovett Hall wedding. (Thanks Brogan for picking me!! Yay!!!). When we met she came alone and it's not often I get to chat with a bride solo and just talk about life and of course her wedding. Brogan couldn't keep the smile off her face when she talked about Cody. She told me how Cody was in the Army and that was the reason he wasn't at our initial meeting. He was living in North Carolina at the time.
She told me how they met at Hillsdale College and dated through their college years. She was originally from the Detroit area but Cody was from Southern Indiana. Brogan played volleyball and Cody played football while at Hillsdale. When Cody left for the Army in April, 2012 - letters were all they had. They missed each other terribly, but the Army being what the Army is, would not allow phone calls or email during training. It was pen and paper for these two. They had to communicate the old fashioned way - and that they did. Some couples would fall apart and just go their separate ways. But not Cody and Brogan. Their love for each other grew through each and every letter. They learned just how much they really loved each other because they had to take the time to think about each other as they wrote. In fact they fondly remember their letter writing days so much that they exchanged letters on their wedding day before they said their vows.
It didn't take long for Cody to propose. He proposed to Brogan on December 22, 2012 and through their engagement they lived in separate states visiting each other as much as they could.
Finally after all of their time apart - it was their wedding day! The day began at the Dearborn Inn where Brogan prepared for the big day. She got ready in the Patrick Henry house which was an elegant and gorgeous room to prepare in. Shortly after my arrival for portraits, we were off to Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn where they wed with a traditional Catholic Mass. Now let's not forget that this is Michigan and, well - it's darn cold in the winter. Our time for wedding pictures was limited with the tempurature and setting sun. We worked quickly but I'm so happy with the wedding photos we were able to capture. The reception was held at Henry Ford's Lovett Hall, where it was elegantly decorated. No detail was forgotten. The room was stunning. Their wedding cake was gorgeous and exactly how I pictured it would be knowing Brogan. My favorite detail were the cookies in the shape of the state of Michigan and Florida - representing where Brogan and Cody lived. Dinner was amazing as it always is with Henry Ford weddings and the happy couple danced the night away with their friends and family.
Soon after the wedding Brogan packed up her things and moved to North Carolina to be with Cody. Join me in wishing them the most happy life together! Congratulations Cody and Brogan!!! What a story and what a wedding you had!

Creative Detroit Wedding Pictures | A Love Made in Michigan
Dec 27, 2014
Wedding pictures in the Metro Detroit area were captured by Kellie Saunders and her team of creative wedding photographers in Detroit.
It's difficult to describe how my team of felt when we arrived to Shannon's suite on her wedding day. First let me say that Shannon and Josh are very special clients of mine. I love all of my clients of course, but I felt a special connection to Shannon from our first phone conversation and I was so over the moon excited for her and Josh on the big day. From the most beautiful bridal gown that any photographer would love - to the biggest smiles ever, working with Shannon and Josh was simply lovely.
Shannon and Josh met in 2007 as undergrads at Western Michigan University. Although things didn't work out for them at the time, they kept in touch throughout the years. After living apart and moving on with their lives, fate brought them back together in 2012. They were just hanging out with friends that day and when they saw each other they immediately reconnected. Shannon and Josh picked up right where they left off and they knew right then and there that they were meant to be together. Josh proposed on Christmas day, 2013. He tried to prepare her for a lack luster holiday, but Shannon gave him some grief. She told him that he "better at least get her a candle to open up in front of her family." Well, he had a little something more than a candle, but he wasn't going to let her know this. Later that day as they were opening their gifts with Shannon's family, Josh gave Shannon a slew of wedding themed gifts and when she opened the last gift it was a "wedding day" candle. On top of the candle, placed delicately, was the most beautiful diamond ring. And that, my friends, is how Josh asked Shannon to marry him.
I am so thankful to have spend their wedding day with them. We started at Shannon's suite where we documented her getting ready. Shortly after our arrival Josh arrived for their first look. It was a touching moment and I was honored to be there for them. We then hopped on the bus and headed to Detroit for their wedding portraits. We stopped at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the famous drip wall, and of course the Detroit Public Library. It was so much fun and I finally got to ride in the party bus. (I never get to ride - so it was even more fun). Soon we were at Edgewood Country Club where Shannon and Josh exchanged their vows with a short ceremony with one of my favorite officiants, Judy Kalchik. We danced the night away after that - and when I say danced - I mean danced! I don't think anyone stayed in their seats. Please help me in congratulating them and enjoy some of my favorite images from their wedding day!

Oakhurst Country Club | Southeast Michigan Wedding Photographers

Southeast Michigan wedding photography at Oakhurst Country Club in Clarkston, MI provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of creative Detroit, MI wedding photographers.
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful bride and an amazing groom; and my photography team was able spend a magical day making memories with them! Brooke and Mike had one a very unique wedding that infused the December holiday festivities with their mutual love of Walt Disney’s 2009 hit “UP.” My team and I started by meeting with Brooke at her church (Court Street United Methodist in Flint) as she was getting ready. I absolutely adored Brookes wedding shoes. They had a vintage look to them and were just lovely. They laced up with a delicate ribbon. Take a look at them below.
Memories were made, from her mother passing on a family heirloom, to her cousin helping put on and tie her wedding day shoes. After taking a brief moment to “fly” a note over to Mike via balloon, it was time to walk down the aisle to make the most magical memory of the day. After the ceremony, we strolled downtown Flint creating beautiful portraits. The reception was held at Oakhurst Country Club, where the couple celebrated their love with family and friends, dancing the night away! Here is a sneak peek at some of my favorites of the night! Now, how does every fairy-tale love story end? Let’s say it together as we wish Brooke and Mike all the love and happiness in their beautiful union. “And they lived happily ever after!”

Detroit Engagement Photos
Dec 16, 2014
I had the best time working with Heather and Chris during their Detroit engagement session. As a Michigan wedding photographer I don't get enough opportunities to photograph couples in downtown Detroit, so this was a pleasant surprise. They were a blast to work with and I can't wait for their wedding next year. Join me in congratulating on their engagement!

Northville Engagement Photos
Nov 5, 2014
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect Michigan day to photograph Allison and Brett to celebrate their engagement. Being a Michigan engagement and wedding photographer, we often have to go with mother nature gives us weather wise. This day was just splendid with lovely light to boot. We started our engagement session in downtown Northville where we walked Main street and found lots of little nooks and crannies to use for their images. After that we hit the outskirts of Mill Race before heading to a beautiful field nearby where we were greeted by the most amazing sunlight I've seen all year. Congratulations to Allison and Brett as they celebrate their engagement! I can't wait to photograph their wedding next year.
