DETROIT WEDDING | MEGAN + MIKE
Jan 29, 2018
Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the elegant Colony Club provided by Kellie Saunders, one of Michigan's best wedding photographers. Megan and Mike's couldn't have had a more lovely wedding day. They picked an April date, which can be tricky with Michigan weather, but they picked the right venues for an April wedding in Detroit. From the ALoft Hotel where they dressed and gussied up for the day to their chosen venue, The Colony Club, nothing could go wrong no matter what the weather brought. These venues offered back up plans galore! Lucky for them, their day was absolutely gorgeous and everything was absolutely perfect for them! We started the day at the ALoft Hotel, which is located in the David A. Whitney building. The architecture of the building is absolutely stunning. After Megan and Mike dressed, they saw each other for the first time at the hotel, where we set them up for a "first look". They decided to do a first look to make more time to venture around the Detroit area for their wedding photos. I'm so happy they did because we had the best time working with them and I love their wedding pictures! We landed at the Detroit Institute of Arts (outside of course) and that's where we spent the most time, but check out their images below. Stunning! After that we traveled to the Colony Club and spent some time outside and also shooting wedding pictures inside the gorgeous building before their ceremony. Megan and Mike kept smiles and laughter on their face the whole day. It was infectious and we were happy to be working with them. They were so easy going and fun! They were up for anything, which is what I adore about them. After the nuptials and their reception, they decided to leave the reception and walk over to the Fox and Comerica Park for a few wedding pictures at night. What fun we had!!! Those images are some of my all time favorites. You can see them below. Congratulations Megan and Mike!!! Thank you for giving us the honor of being with you on your wedding day!!!! Thank you to all of the staff at The Colony Club, who are always so gracious and kind to the vendors who work at their venue.

MEGAN + MIKE | DETROIT WEDDINGS
Mar 19, 2017
Detroit, MI engagement photos on Belle Isle provided by Kellie Saunders, a top Detroit wedding and engagement photographer. It's FINALLY spring in Michigan! March 20, 2017 is the first official day of spring and I couldn't be more excited! I'm reviewing all of my upcoming weddings this year and I came across Megan and Mike's wedding on my calendar. Their wedding is fast approaching in April and oh my goodness, it's going to be a good one! They love the city and they love each other and I wanted to share their engagement session photos to help celebrate the beginning of spring and also the beginning of their lives together as husband and wife (starting in April that is). I had an amazing time working with them during their engagement session last year. We shot on Belle Isle which is a favorite location for many of my clients. What I love the most about Belle Isle for engagement portraits is the variety that the island offers. We can be in the middle of a crowd one moment and then disappear and be lost in the woods the next. When the light is right and the wind isn't too strong (gosh it does get windy on that island sometimes) it's so perfect! Although we did have to work super fast as a storm was fast approaching, I think we did a great job! I can't wait for their wedding this April! Congrats to Megan and Mike! See you guys very soon!

Meadow Brook Hall Wedding Ceremony Photos

MEGAN + JOHN have the perfect wedding ceremony at Meadowbrook Hall
Feb 27, 2017
Photography services for the wedding ceremony at Meadowbrook Hall and Mansion in Rochester Hills was provided by Birmingham Michigan wedding photographer Kellie Saunders and her team. You can view Megan and John's engagement session HERE. There aren't many historical wedding venues in Southeast Michigan that can deliver what Meadowbrook can to couples looking for the perfect venue. I absolutely adore Meadowbrook. The mansion is definitely a five star premier wedding venue for discerning couples who demand elegance and historic value. The history, the architecture, the grounds, the landscape, the beautiful ceremony area outside, the staff and of course the view from the roof! It's always a special treat to work there, and I am so thankful to have the chance to work there with such a fantastic couple like Megan and John. Actually it was a surprise because when Megan and John first hired me they weren't planning on having their ceremony at the Meadowbrook mansion. When I found out the venue had changed I was over the moon excited! I wish I had a dollar for every wedding in 2016 where I ran into Megan and John! I think they are friends with almost every couple I worked with last year. It was like magic - I would turn around and there Megan and John stood, full of smiles and laughter. It made photographing their wedding that much more special to me since I already met many of their friends. Megan and John's love story started in Ann Arbor, where the two currently reside. They are both football fans (go Blue!) and met while tailgating. John had a feeling that Megan could be the one for him, so he had to ask her on a formal date, which they went on the following week. Although Megan was attending nursing school at Valparaiso University in Indiana and John was living in Michigan they continued dating although many miles were between them. John decided to make it official and propose marriage during Christmas break in front of the tree. Lucky for me their story continued with wedding planning and I received the honor of working with them! The day began at the Royal Park hotel in Rochester where Megan received the royal treatment from her on site hair/makeup artist from the Makeup Loft in Plymouth. After getting glammed up, the girls headed out to Meadowbrook for the ceremony. John may have been nervous but he never let on at all. He lit up like Christmas when I told him how beautiful Megan was and how excited she was to see him. I always ask my couples before they see one another for the first time how they are feeling. John may or may not remember what he said to me, but I will always remember his words. He said, "Oh me, how is Megan feeling? I want to make sure she's doing good." That told me just how selfless John is and how much he really cares for Megan. See, it didn't matter to him how he was feeling, he just wanted to make sure his bride was feeling good. That my friends is the way love is supposed to be. Putting another before yourself. If both partners do just that then you will have two very happy people for a very long time. Megan and John were married in the garden area outside of the Meadowbrook mansion. It was one of the hottest days of the year from what I remember, but that didn't stop guests from enjoying themselves and wishing the couple well. Directly after their ceremony we took family photographs and then I was able to spend a little time with Megan, John and their bridal party on the mansion grounds until we left for their reception at Twin Lakes. Once guests arrived at Twin Lakes, they were greeted with hors'd'oeuvres and cool drinks on their outdoor patio as they waited on Megan and John to arrive. It was laughter, good food and fun for the rest of the night! One of my favorite photos of all times is below when Megan hit the dance floor with her two grandmas! I hope you enjoy my favorites from their wedding day and join me in congratulating Megan and John on their marriage and wishing them all the happiness in the world!

BIRMINGHAM MICHIGAN | ENGAGEMENT PHOTO FUN
Mar 21, 2016
Birmingham, MI engagement photography provided by Kellie Saunders, a top Detroit wedding and engagement photographer. Megan and John were not only a blast to photograph - I've seen that at least two other weddings I've photographed this year. I secretly think they might be professional wedding crashers. :-) Okay maybe they aren't - but I'll have fun with spreading the rumor. We shot their engagement session in a local park in Birmingham, Michigan and also hit some downtown favorite spots. I really like that we were able to get some great options for their save the dates. Megan is absolutely stunning (John is not so bad himself), so they will be so much fun to photograph on their wedding day. I can't wait to see what her dress looks like. She said it's gorgeous!! Congrats to Megan and John!
