COLLEEN AND EVAN
HOWELL ENGAGEMENT SESSION
Jul 9, 2015
Engagement photography provided by Kellie Saunders, a top Michigan wedding and engagement photographer.
Colleen and Evan are tough! They said that they were up for anything, and truly they were. What a fantastically amazing day we had working together on my friends property in Howell. We walked through fields of waist high grass with the sun gently setting behind us. I learned that when something is meant to be, it will be. No matter how much time and distance separates two people, if they are meant for each other they will be together. Colleen and Evan knew each other before they dated. Evan always liked Colleen but was too shy to ask her on a date. He said he never thought "she would go out with a guy like me". Oh Evan - do you not know how wonderful you are??? I spent an hour talking with the two of you and the person I met was kind, considerate, caring and compassionate. Of course Colleen would have went out with you! Well, anyway - time and distance separated the two of them. Evan lived in the Bahama's for awhile working while life went on for Colleen here in Michigan. When Evan moved back, he connected with Colleen and discovered that yes, he is the kind of guy she would go out with!
I can't wait for their wedding next year. Congrats to Evan and Colleen! Here are some favorites from their engagement session.

Engagement photography in Birmingham, MI provided by Kellie Saunders, a top Detroit Michigan wedding and engagement photographer.
Once upon a time there was a bridal show and Sarah entered an engagement session contest. Guess what? She won!!! I'm so happy she did because I just adore her to pieces. When she and Josh walked into my studio I was super excited to work with her. They had a fantastic energy I could feel from across the room. She drove all the way from Howell to meet with me and I was so honored to be the one to take her engagement photos. We shot in Birmingham at a local park and had the best time. I learned about Josh and his time in the Navy and their wedding coming up next Labor Day weekend. And guess who they picked as their wedding photographer? Moi! I'm so excited because it's at a new venue that I haven't shot at before so I get to let my creativity run wild. They are getting married at Inner Circle Estates in Dexter, Michigan. Thank you so much Sarah and Josh for working with me and for meeting me from such a long distance. Congratulations on your engagement!
LAUREN + EMANUEL
BRIGHTON ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Okay Lauren and Emanuel can just stop it now! They totally shut it down for me. I'm serious. First Lauren is just as sweet as can be, her fun and friendly personality is infectious and Emanuel is simply the perfect gentleman. They are probably the perfect couple. I say probably because I think all of my couples are pretty perfect. What I love the most about Lauren and Emanuel is their hearts. I don't get to spend a lot of time with my couples before the wedding, but I get to spend enough time to learn about them and what makes them tick as a couple. I know Lauren loves Emanuel with all of her heart. She loves him and he loves her. From the outside looking in, I feel as though they've been together for years and years. They are just meant to be. When we first met they sat on my sofa and talked about their children and how they are so excited to build their new family and bring them together. Lauren's eyes lit up talking about the wedding plans and Emanuel smiled and held her hand. It was sweet and showed me how affectionate they are together. I simply cannot wait until their September wedding. Emanuel serves our country so they are getting married at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. What a terrific way to honor his service to this country and a gorgeous venue to tie the knot. Please join me in wishing them congratulations on their engagement!

Katie and Troy! Katie is my cousin's wife's sister. Gosh that sounds complicated in a twice removed sort of way. Really it's not. I actually met Katie and Troy on the day of their engagement session and we immediately hit it off. I loved their energy and willingness to try anything. Katie and Troy met in high school (Southgate Anderson I believe) and then went their separate ways. They reconnected through mutual friends and the rest is history. I can't wait until their October wedding in Gaylord. Did someone say fall, up north and wedding? I'm so in!

Downtown Detroit, Michigan wedding photographs at the historic Old St. Mary's Cathedral in Greektown were provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the very best wedding photographers in Michigan.
I LOVE Italian weddings. Let me say that again (and I'm speaking to all the Italian people of the world here) - I love EVERY SINGLE one of you and every single wedding you have! I spent time in Italy when I was in high school and it was the most fantastic time in my life. The culture, the people, the love and the history. You can just feel the connection between families and the love and appreciation they have for each other. I haven't been able to make it back to Italy, but I'm able to get my fill by working with some of the most brilliant local Italian families around.
As a wedding photographer I've always found Italian weddings to be filled with emotions, love and laughter. Rosana and Jason's wedding was absolutely no exception! Rosana is simply one of the sweetest most expressive brides I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She lives in Grand Rapids with Jason so I first met them when I photographed their engagement session in Grand Rapids. Not knowing the town very well, she helped me find my way around so we could take some fantastic engagement images of the two of them. It was cold and windy that day, but Jason and Rosana kept going to get the job done. They were so easy going that we even stopped for a beer at Founders while shooting their session! Thank you to Jason for suggesting it! I am in LOVE with that beer now! I knew the wedding would be just as fantastic as they were - and it was!
Fast forward to the wedding day. Rosana and Jason had a chic and glamorous event, but were so down to earth and lovely to work with that I almost forgot I was working. Rosana held her tears back until she saw Jason for the first time walking towards him, and Jason - well - his smile couldn't be contained when he saw his Rosana. I "think" I even saw his eyes start to water a bit. Rosana will have to be the judge of that when her gallery is uploaded.
One of my favorite memories from their ceremony was watching as Jason reached over and wiped a tear from Rosana's face. It was a touching moment, and in my eyes, although they stood there in front of hundreds of their family and friends - for that one very moment when he reached out to her, they were all alone. It was just lovely!
After their nuptials we braved all of the construction going on in the city of Detroit to grab a few portraits with the bridal party. What a FUN bridal party! Everyone was lively, friendly and helpful. They helped make Rosana and Jason laugh and bring their photos to life. Thanks guys!!!
We headed over to the reception at the Palazzo Grande where everyone danced and ate, and danced and ate and danced and ate. There was never a shortage of food - from the decadent Hor d'oeuvre that included not only the standard Italian assortment of meat, cheeses, and olives but also was sushi and fresh fruit and breads. Once dinner was served Rosana and Jason danced the night away! This was a wedding I absolutely loved! Please join me in wishing Rosana and Jason a lifetime of happiness, laughter and love!
