EDWARDO + KATE
ST. MARY'S ORCHARD LAKE SHRINE CHAPEL WEDDING
Aug 28, 2015
Metro Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the St. Mary's Shrine Chapel provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the best Michigan wedding photographers.
Edwardo and Kate had the most special wedding day! They are both such loving and gracious people and I had a blast working with them. I hadn't photographed a wedding at Orchard Lake Shrine Chapel before so it was nice to be able to take pictures somewhere new. Laughter was the theme of the day because Kate and Edwardo know how to have FUN! But even though this couple knows how to rock out a party, one of my favorite moments of the day was a quiet moment when Kate read a letter that Edwardo wrote to her. The room quieted and she graciously wiped her tears and I could feel almost feel the love she was feeling. It was such a nice quiet moment. I hope they have the best and most happy marriage ever! Please join me in wishing them a happy and long marriage.

Oh I just adore Kellie and Kyle! First of all they came all the way from Saginaw (a two hour drive) just to meet with me a couple of years ago. They made the drive again a year later for their engagement session. I am so appreciative of the effort they made to work with me. Not only are they two of the sweetest people I've ever met, they are two of the most fun as well!
I made the two hour drive to Saginaw on their wedding day and from the moment I walked into Kellie's parents home the day was fun and filled with laughter, tears and all the raw emotion that I could handle. I live for weddings like this. Kellie and Kyle both chose to get ready at Kellie's parents home but still stay hidden from each other. They actually did stay hidden from one another even when we tested them a bit when Kellie held Kyle's hand with a wall between them. They were good sports and neither peeked.
After their ceremony we drove to Bay City to take their wedding portraits by the water. It was a super hot day but everyone was in good spirits and we got the job done in record time. Kellie and Kyle had a drink then boarded their bus for the reception at Swan Valley Golf Club. The room was filled with friends and loved ones who danced the night away with Kellie and Kyle. Join me in wishing them the biggest congratulations! It was such a pleasure working with Kellie, Kyle and their friends and families!

Brighton, Michigan wedding photographs at the Oakpointe Country Club were provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the very best wedding photographers in Michigan.
Allison and Brett are just the most adorable couple! What a couple of great people with equally fantastic friends and family! Allison and Brett hired me over the phone so I didn't meet them until their engagement session. That happens sometimes, and I never know quite what kinds of personalities I'm going to find at the session. Well, I found two warm, friendly and very much in love people! That did not change on their wedding day.
I met Allison at the the hotel for the standard getting ready images. We photographed dress, shoes, bridesmaids dancing (yes ladies - I have it all and it is funny!!! lol), and a couple of nervous tears. It was just a lovely day morning around. We headed over to Oak Pointe Country Club for the first look and we were afraid it would rain. The sky was starting to grey over a bit, so we were nervous. Lucky for us - the rain held out and Allison and Brett were able to have a really beautiful intimate first look. We went right into photos so they could enjoy the rest of their day.
Now don't think for one second that because Allison and Brett had a first look they didn't reserve a few tears for their ceremony. Oak Pointe Country Club had a beautiful ceremony location and we really enjoyed shooting there. Allison's colors were navy blue and white with pastel flowers (blush pink and ivory). They were gorgeous and it looked so lovely. I especially loved her alter. Filled with flowers - just beautiful!
Allison and their friends and families danced the night away and I couldn't be happier for them! Please join me in congratulating Allison and Brett and wishing them a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness! It was an honor to be there with you! Here are a few of my favorites from their wedding day.

Old St. Mary's Wedding Pictures | Detroit, Michigan Wedding Photographers

Downtown Detroit, Michigan wedding photographs at the historic Old St. Mary's Cathedral in Greektown were provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of the very best wedding photographers in Michigan.
I LOVE Italian weddings. Let me say that again (and I'm speaking to all the Italian people of the world here) - I love EVERY SINGLE one of you and every single wedding you have! I spent time in Italy when I was in high school and it was the most fantastic time in my life. The culture, the people, the love and the history. You can just feel the connection between families and the love and appreciation they have for each other. I haven't been able to make it back to Italy, but I'm able to get my fill by working with some of the most brilliant local Italian families around.
As a wedding photographer I've always found Italian weddings to be filled with emotions, love and laughter. Rosana and Jason's wedding was absolutely no exception! Rosana is simply one of the sweetest most expressive brides I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She lives in Grand Rapids with Jason so I first met them when I photographed their engagement session in Grand Rapids. Not knowing the town very well, she helped me find my way around so we could take some fantastic engagement images of the two of them. It was cold and windy that day, but Jason and Rosana kept going to get the job done. They were so easy going that we even stopped for a beer at Founders while shooting their session! Thank you to Jason for suggesting it! I am in LOVE with that beer now! I knew the wedding would be just as fantastic as they were - and it was!
Fast forward to the wedding day. Rosana and Jason had a chic and glamorous event, but were so down to earth and lovely to work with that I almost forgot I was working. Rosana held her tears back until she saw Jason for the first time walking towards him, and Jason - well - his smile couldn't be contained when he saw his Rosana. I "think" I even saw his eyes start to water a bit. Rosana will have to be the judge of that when her gallery is uploaded.
One of my favorite memories from their ceremony was watching as Jason reached over and wiped a tear from Rosana's face. It was a touching moment, and in my eyes, although they stood there in front of hundreds of their family and friends - for that one very moment when he reached out to her, they were all alone. It was just lovely!
After their nuptials we braved all of the construction going on in the city of Detroit to grab a few portraits with the bridal party. What a FUN bridal party! Everyone was lively, friendly and helpful. They helped make Rosana and Jason laugh and bring their photos to life. Thanks guys!!!
We headed over to the reception at the Palazzo Grande where everyone danced and ate, and danced and ate and danced and ate. There was never a shortage of food - from the decadent Hor d'oeuvre that included not only the standard Italian assortment of meat, cheeses, and olives but also was sushi and fresh fruit and breads. Once dinner was served Rosana and Jason danced the night away! This was a wedding I absolutely loved! Please join me in wishing Rosana and Jason a lifetime of happiness, laughter and love!

Birmingham Michigan Wedding Photography | Multi Cultural Jewish Christian Ceremony

Metro Detroit Michigan wedding photography in Birmingham, Michigan provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of creative Detroit, Michigan wedding photographers. Birmingham, Michigan wedding planning / day of event coordination services provided by Nicola at Simply Brilliant Events.
I met Meg and Josh for the first time in person on their wedding day. Believe it or not, this happens a lot in my line of work. Most of the time it's business as usual. Weddings, as unpredictable as they are have become pretty predictable to me. But this time was different. My eyes lit up as soon as I met Meg's bridesmaids. These were my people! Every single one of them. Meg, Josh, the bridesmaids, the groomsmen, their parents, their friends and all of their family. My people! Because of this I knew no matter what the day brought Meg and Josh would make great pictures! They were all relaxed, lovely, fun, silly, emotional and kind all wrapped up in a pretty package. I absolutely loved this wedding. Hands down LOVED it! You may be wondering just what I loved about it.
Although I have only known Meg and Josh for about 9 hours, I could tell immediately that they were in love with each other. Their love is an old school kind of love, comfortable and free. I don't see this kind of love often, even being a wedding photographer. It was like they have known each other for a hundred years already, yet were so comfortable with each other and had no fear of wedding day emotions. Lovely, simply lovely!
We started the day at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, where Meg and Josh prepped for the first look. As well planned as our plans were, we soon found many challenges ahead of us. We planned on having the first look at the hotel, but upon arrival discovered a tea party in the very spot we needed to use. We looked outside for a suitable place for the first look and portraits and discovered a street fair with bystanders, pedestrians, vendors and vehicles in every direction. I don't know if Meg remembers her reaction and what she said, but I do. Meg kept her cool and just smiled and said, "I just want to see Josh. It doesn't matter. I just want to see Josh." And so it went. It was go time.
We fought the crowds and were able to sneak a few moments alone for their first look. We stood back like we always do and quietly observed, recording every raw emotion as Meg walked to Josh. She tapped on his shoulder and he turned around to see her for the first time in her wedding gown and his reaction was probably one of the best reactions I've photographed. I'm not even going to explain it - take a look for yourself below.
After a couple of bridal party photos we made our way to The Bird & the Bread in downtown Birmingham where Nicola (one of my favorite wedding planners) was waiting. This was the first time I've photographed a wedding at The Bird & the Bread and it did not disappoint. The candlelit ceremony was elegant and intimate. The venue staff worked so hard and efficiently making sure all of Meg and Josh's guests were taken care of. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! (Thanks to Meg and Josh for inviting my team to dine because it was really a treat!).
After the nuptials and dinner guests danced the night away to Bob Mervak's band. It's an absolute treat to hear Bob play and Meg and Josh danced and danced! Please join me in wishing Meg and Josh all the happiness, laughter and love in the world! They certainly deserve it!
