STACY + MIKEY'S CROFOOT RECEPTION

STACY + MIKEY'S CROFOOT RECEPTION

PONTIAC CROFOOT BALLROOM WEDDING RECEPTION
Aug 30, 2016
Wedding photography at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac was provided by Kellie Saunders and Leah Moss, leading wedding photographers in Southeast Michigan. They are available for local and destination weddings and events. View Stacy and Mikey's First Look in historic Indian Village here: Stacy and Mikey's First Look View Stacy and Mikey's Michigan Science Center Planetarium Wedding here: Stacy and Mikey's Wedding Ceremony Stacy and Mikey have many layers to them both individually and together as a couple. Their wedding ceremony and reception was no different. It's actually hard to describe in words because the three times I photographed them together were all so completely different, it's hard to explain how it all came together. The best way I can describe it is to say that Stacy and Mikey are madly in love with each other, they are also highly intelligent, they have a sense of humor that tops the charts and they are edgy and innovative. I believe that their wedding events showcased the many ways they love each other. I truly can't believe it's taken me so long to finish the series on Stacy and Mikey. Perhaps I didn't want my love affair with their wedding to end. I don't really know, but what I do know is that never have I ever photographed a more challenging, fun and unique wedding. The wedding and reception were both challenging from a technical standpoint for many reasons, but I knew we could pull it off and do a killer job and we did. I can't thank Stacy and Mikey enough for allowing me the honor of photographing their wedding. From their first look at a historic mansion in Indian Village, to their ceremony at the Michigan Science Center in Detroit (I still call it the Detroit Science Center, but I'm old), and finally to their fabulous masquerade ball wedding reception - I wouldn't trade one single minute. It was THAT much fun. So, let me talk for just a minute about the masquerade ball wedding reception at the Crofoot that Stacy and Mikey hosted. First, Stacy hired The Lighting Guy to help and he did an amazing job. He created a ceiling of stars and also helped adorn the room with up lighting and chandeliers. It was simply amazing. Stacy and Mikey also brought in the Detroit Circus for entertainment. Their guests enjoyed a night filled with aerial acrobatics, fire dancing and handling, stilt walking and other mind blowing circus sideshow acts. I was absolutely blown away! They also brought in the Detroit Photobooth Company for their guests to enjoy and Stacy and Mikey had life size cut outs made so they could be in all of their guests photos. It was so much fun to watch everyone at the photo booth! This photo booth company is wonderful because it's social media based so guests get an instant email with the photo so they can share immediately with friends. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a photo booth in the Detroit area. As the night went on Stacy and Mikey could not end the evening without one final FUN event for their guests. What wedding is not complete without a flash mob? I'm so happy for Stacy and Mikey and wish them all the happiness and love in the world! They are absolutely perfect together!

GRACE + MATT | Detroit Yacht Club Wedding

GRACE + MATT | Detroit Yacht Club Wedding

Holy Name Ceremony | Detroit Yacht Club Wedding Photos
Aug 1, 2016
Southeast Michigan wedding photography in Birminham at Holy Name Catholic Church and the Detroit Yacht Club provided by Kellie Saunders and Dionne Haglund, two favorite Detroit Michigan wedding photographers. Day of planning and coordination by Kate from Purple Clover Events. Grace + Matt + Teddy = The cutest family EVER! I'm a little partial to cute dogs. Okay, I'm partial to all dogs, but darn it Teddy is probably the cutest dog I've ever met. PLEASE do not tell my two doggies at home that I said this. I realize this blog post is about Grace and Matt's wedding, not Teddy, but if I don't at least give him an honorable mention I would never forgive myself! Okay back to the blog post at hand. It was a gorgeous summer afternoon, a wee bit hot since we were in the middle of a heat wave, but still lovely nonetheless. Grace and the girls prepped for the nuptials at a salon and met me back at her parents house in Troy. After a quick lunch she dressed and the crew was on their way to Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham for an afternoon ceremony. Matt met my sidekick Dionne at Holy Name a bit earlier for some portraits with the guys, and soon both Grace and Matt were face to face down Holy Name's aisle. It never fails - I think I cry at every ceremony and this one was no exception. I am truly excited and get a bit emotionally overwhelmed when my couples exchange their vows. It is so special for me to have the honor of witnessing my couples at this moment, and I can genuinely feel the presence of God every single time a couple say's I do. Matt and Grace's parents were exceptionally special and without a doubt, everyone in attendance could feel their love for God and for their children. It was pretty powerful and their parents are pretty darn special. After the ceremony we hit the road and headed over to Belle Isle where the reception was to be held at the Detroit Yacht Club. Grace and Matt are members of the club and lovers of everything Detroit! If anyone has knowledge of the club you will know that they do not have air conditioning in the ballroom. It's common knowledge among my wedding photographer friends that when we have a summer wedding at the Detroit Yacht Club, you have to pack ice packs, Gatorade, a gallon of water, and one of those neck fans you buy at an amusement park. It might look silly, but that neck fan does help. Guess what this wedding photographer did NOT have to pack on Grace and Matt's wedding day? NONE of this! Why??? Because Grace's dad (God bless him!!!) put in air conditioning for the night! Yes, if you are reading this post and considering the Detroit Yacht Club for your wedding, Grace's dad has raised the bar for every wedding I will ever shoot at the club. It was amazing and he kept his friends, family and of course Grace and Matt cool that night. It was a good thing too, because temps have been close to 100 around here lately. Guests noshed on a marvelous fruit and cheese spread while we stole a few moments on Belle Isle for bridal party photographs. We headed over to the club for the reception and Grace and Matt were welcomed with a grand entrance and toasts and congratulations from friends and family. There was so much fun, laughter and love that night! To Grace and Matt - thanks so much for sharing your wedding day with me! It was an honor! Some fun facts about Matt and Grace. They met in 2010 at college - Yay for Notre Dame! They started out as friends, but you know how that goes.Matt proposed Christmas Eve, 2014.Matt's proposed in his childhood bedroom.Teddy is their first child, but one day they hope to add a human child to the mix.

Waldenwoods Wedding Photos in Howell
Jul 17, 2016
Southeast Michigan wedding photography at Waldenwoods in Howell provided by Kellie Saunders and Leah Moss, two favorite Michigan wedding photographers. I think I've photographed over 500 weddings in the last ten years. They all tend to blur in my mind after awhile. Brides and grooms come and go because after all, this is what I do for a living. But one thing is constant. I LOVE what I do and when I'm working with a couple, I never forget how much trust they place in me to keep their memories safe. It's an honor, truly it is! This wedding was no different. First let me tell you how much I love Waldenwoods! So gorgeous. Beyond gorgeous. There is a lake, a building with texture and history, woods, trees, a lovely pergola to get married under and so much more. Kristen and Ryan met with me long before their wedding while Kristen was finishing up medical school and Ryan was busy with a budding career as an engineer. These are two of the most highly educated, talented and kind hearted people I've ever met! I need to say they are humble as well. They worked with Simply Brilliant events and Nicola worked magic for them so they could enjoy their day without troubles. One of my favorite parts of the day was when Kristen opened a gift from Ryan. It was in a big box and I thought, well this must be a photo of some sort. I was wrong, but kind of right. It was actually a custom frame with several photos from their time together when they dated. Each photo was from a special moment they shared and Ryan had a note on each photo with his memories in writing from that moment. It was so sweet of him! Ryan, if you are reading this, Kristen would like you to know that she opened the box with her car keys and not scissors. (This is an inside joke for those on the outside looking in... ha). Their wedding day was simply beautiful and my sidekick Leah and I had a really wonderful time working with Ryan and Kristen. Please join me in wishing them the most beautiful life together! They have moved to Houston and I'm sure their friends and family miss them dearly. Cheers and congrats!!!!

ALLIE + MIKE | GREAT OAKS WEDDING

ALLIE + MIKE | GREAT OAKS WEDDING

ST. JOSEPHS LAKE ORION MI WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Jun 29, 2016
Southeast Michigan wedding photography at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lake Orion and Great Oaks Country Club provided by Kellie Saunders photography team. A long time ago in a land (not so far away), back in 2008 Allie met Mike while attending Central Michigan University. They quickly fell in long and fast forward six years to 2014, and Mike was proposing to Allie on the bridge over the paint creek trail in downtown Rochester, where the pair grew up. Fast forward two more years, and I was meeting Allie on her wedding day at the Royal Park Hotel. Outside her window was the very spot Mike proposed. That kind of gets me feeling all sentimental and emotional. I'm just that kind of girl I suppose.  Allie was all smiles all day long on her wedding day. From the moment I knocked on the door, she was relaxed and ready to see her groom. She might have been nervous, but I couldn't tell and I can usually sniff out nerves from miles away. Her mom and bridesmaids helped her into her gown (stunning by the way), and soon she was on her way to St. Josephs where they would have a traditional Catholic mass. St. Josephs is one of the prettiest catholic churches in the area. It's really beautiful and jaw dropping to be honest. Had I known about this parish when I was married I might have put in on my short list. That's how much I loved it! When Allie made her entrance into the sanctuary there wasn't many dry eyes, and Mike gave me one of the photos I love capturing. I never can ask for this image - but when it happens it's so beautiful! Look below, you will see what I'm writing about. That is one of my all time favorite images. Mike is one of the friendliest, fun and in LOVE grooms I've ever worked with. He is absolutely one hundred percent in love with Allie and he didn't need or want to hide that on his wedding day. That's all a photographer needs to know and the rest is magic. After the ceremony we headed back to the very spot where Mike proposed by the Royal Park Hotel in Downtown Rochester for their bridal portraits. The entire bridal party was a blast to work with and they all did a great job! One of the things I ask my couples when I meet them is if they've been in a wedding before. Nine times out of ten they have, and then I follow up with asking them how their experiences have been with other wedding photographers. I really listen to the feedback and learn from it. One of the things I've heard over the years the most is that when photographers are posing bridal parties, the bridal party feels lost. They feel unguided and don't know what to do or how to stand so it's the most flattering for their body type. I really try to take my time with my bridal parties (given I have a little extra time that is) to talk to them about posture and how to position their body in front of a camera so they look their absolute best. Even though yes, the pictures are for my brides and grooms, I still want the bridal party to have a good experience and love how they look as well. Once the portraits finished we were on our way to Great Oaks for a fun night of good food, live music, lively dancing and laughter! Of course we started the night with a ride on a golf cart and took some fantastic images on the course. Thanks to Great Oaks for letting their couples out on the course for photos. Not every golf club let's you do this, so kudos to their venue! Also their staff was lovely and attentive to Allie and Mike's family and friends. What a wonderful night that was had by all! Congrats - Allie and Mike!!! Hope you love your preview!

ALISIA + MATT

ALISIA + MATT

DETROIT WEDDING PICTURES
Jun 24, 2016
Metro Detroit Michigan wedding photography provided by Kellie Saunders and her team of creative wedding photographers in Southeast Michigan. Alisia and Matt had the most beautiful traditional Catholic wedding! We started the day at Alisia's parents house in Livonia. The house was filled with smiles, laughter and love. Alisia's dad, with his thick Italian accent told me all about Alisia when she was a little girl and how proud he was of her on her wedding day. He smiled through his tears, but I could feel how much he loved her through the stories he told. Her mom helped her into her wedding gown, gently fluffing and making sure it was perfect. When she stood back to look at Alisia all dressed in her wedding gown, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. I'm sure she was processing this moment. Her little girl was about to be married. I know that this moment is just as big and important to my couples parents as it is to my couples. Parents put every ounce of love into their children. Every hope, every dream, every good wish - they give to their children. When their children have monumental live moments like this it must take their breath away. Once Alisia was dressed, we headed out to the church where Matt waited patiently for his bride. Just like Alisia's mom, when Matt saw Alisia take her first step down the aisle towards him, he closed his eyes and breathed deeply. I can only imagine what he was thinking. This was the love of his life - this was his moment. Alisia was soon to be his wife. After the ceremony we headed to Detroit for a few portraits. It was raining but Alisia and Matt were troopers and were happy to go with the flow of things. We were at the mercy of the weather, but luckily mother nature gave us a few rain free moments at the Detroit Institute of Arts so we could take some portraits of the two of them. Those are some of my favorite images! I'm so glad the weather cooperated. Once we were done, it was on to Laurel Manor in Livonia for the wedding reception. The ballroom was gorgeous, the food was delicious, the friends and family were lively and fun and Matt and Alisia had the best time! Join me in congratulating both of them. We had a great time working with them and wish them the most wonderful life filled with love and happiness!
