It was a wee bit chilly on this day in Detroit, but Michelle and Mitch were down for anything and ready to ignore the wind and chill factor. They just wanted to have fun, and let me tell you - a good time was had by all this day! They started their session on an old street in mid-town that still has the original cobblestone. From there we went to Wayne State's campus to officially start their engagement session. I loved walking around campus a bit and shooting in places I don't normally have the opportunity to shoot. If you are considering a location that I believe is a hidden gem, Wayne State is a great spot for your engagement pictures. Just be aware that you need to make sure you're not shooting at a busy time on campus. But it's a good spot to consider. It's been way too long since I've blogged an engagement session. Amy and Ian met me in Birmingham at my usual spots and we had so much fun celebrating their engagement with pictures! Amy is a natural beauty, both inside and out and Ian is just as handsome as he is nice! These two laughed and shared a great afternoon with me. Their chemistry was undeniable. I can't wait to photograph their wedding coming up soon at the Book Cadillac!

I never get tired of fall engagement sessions in Birmingham. It's not my home town (I was born on the poorer side of town... lol), but I still love this city! The parks are lovely and clean and the people always friendly. Grace and Matt were so much fun to photograph and my favorite part of the session was TEDDY the dog! Tell me he is not to die for cute? His name is completely fitting for him too. I just can't get over his cuteness! Grace and Matt are getting married this year and I can't wait for their wedding! I think 2016 will be one of my best years yet - but only because I have such fantastic couples this year. I'm not sure if Teddy will be at the wedding or not - but I secretly hope so! That little guy won me over! Congrats Grace and Matt!

If there is only one thing I hope all of my clients do when they work with me - that is have FUN! When I first met Jenny and Erich, Erich was pretty up front about his expectations. He said to me, and I repeat exactly, "My motto with all of this is, More Party, Less Bullshit." I asked Erich immediately to sign me up, because I just HAD to be their wedding photographer! That was definitely a no brainer. They are getting married at the Detroit Institute of Arts and I am over the moon for this wedding venue choice. Now, before you go and think - DIA - this must be a swanky high-falooting couple, I can tell you that you couldn't be more wrong. Jenny and Erich are one of the most down to earth and FUN couples I've had the pleasure of working with. When he said more party, less bullshit, he meant it! We had so much FUN with their engagement session in Ann Arbor. We only shot at the Arb (Nichols Arboretum). I really enjoyed it because I don't get out to Ann Arbor as much as I would like because I'm based in Birmingham. Lucky for us the park was just about empty and we had the opportunity to just wander, witness some possible illegal activities, talk laugh and have a good time! I don't think there was a series of photos where this couple wasn't laughing or poking fun at each other. My cheeks hurt on my drive home because they had almost to the point of crying I was laughing so hard. Yes - I believe there will be a fantastic party on their wedding day and I can't WAIT to photograph it. Thanks for picking me guys! I can't wait!

I love celebrating engagements with a photography session! It allows me to get to know my clients and spend a little quality one on one time with them. On the wedding day things are almost always hectic and it's go, go, go. Engagement sessions are different. I like to have fun with my couples. Play games (yes I said games...) with them and shoot them in the most authentic way possible. I play this little game with everyone called the "kissing game". If you've been a client of mine and had an engagment session, you probably know what I'm talking about. I won't go into too much detail, because I like the element of surprise with my future clients - but I kid you not - we have the most fun and I am able to capture some of the most truthful honest expressions. I'm sure Allie and Mike had as much fun as I had working with them. Birmingham never gets old for me. I usually always start my session at Quarton Lake. The light in the park I use is always gorgeous and never fails me. Then sometimes we head to Shain Park or an alley nearby. Sometimes both. I enjoyed my time with Allie and Mike, and now their wedding is that much more personal to me. I can't wait! Join me in congratulating them on their engagement!
