In Jen's own words:

"You are my happily ever after..." The sentiment that had been carefully etched onto Karen and Scott's champagne flutes said it perfectly. Theirs was a wedding day that couldn't have gone more perfect, and it was obvious to anyone with eyes that these two were, quite simply put, just meant to be.

It was an absolutely gorgeous summer day in late June. The sun was out and there were a few clouds scattering the sky. You couldn't have asked for better weather for Karen and Scott's wedding day.

Karen started the day of getting ready at the Bloomfield Hills Country Club, where they were having their reception later that evening. When I arrived, the girls were getting their hair done and enjoying each other's company. Karen was a picture of grace and didn't seem nervous at all. One of the most memorable moments from that morning occurred right before Karen got dressed, while she sat with her mother and bridesmaids on the couch, about to start getting dressed. Karen was given a compiled book of memories, aptly titled "Letters to the Bride," with pictures, letters, inside jokes, etc. spanning the many years of their friendships that her girls had put together for her in an album. Let me tell you...I think that everyone got teary-eyed at that point. It was such a lovely, touching and thoughtful gift that I know will be cherished forever. 

Once dressed and after some family photographs on the golf course, everyone gathered at the historic St. Hugo of the Hills for their wedding ceremony. The joyful tears and the smiles on their guests' faces made one thing obviously clear...Karen and Scott are so very loved by their friends and family. It was a perfect, intimate ceremony, and before I knew it, they were officially husband and wife. 

Once back at the country club, we were able to sneak Karen and Scott away for a few minutes to capture some more intimate moments between the two of them before they headed in to be announced and to cut their wedding cake. After the speeches were made and dinner was finished, Karen and Scott had their first dance to Ellie Goulding. After that, light-up bracelets, glasses and foam sticks were handed out and  everyone started tearing up the dance floor. It was definitely a night to remember and Aaron and I couldn't have had a more enjoyable time spending such a special day with these two and their friends and families. Congratulations on your new life together! We're so happy for you both!

Winter weddings don't get any better than this! We LOVE working at the Inn at St. John's for so many reasons, but the best reason is that it's probably one of the best places in our area to have a winter wedding. The venue is just so lovely inside so regardless of the kind of weather you have on your wedding day, you are going to stay warm, dry and have a place to take great photos. Lucky for Taylor and Haley they had a winter wedding and a pretty nice day as well so we were able to get the best of both worlds for them, but St. John's definitely ranks as one of our faves for this reason.

To Taylor and Haley, we LOVED working with you! We have a couple of favorite memories from your wedding day that we'd like to share. The first is watching your friends pray over you and also with you as you waited for your ceremony to begin. Daigna was able to capture some beautiful images as she was back with you both as I waited for you to walk down the aisle. The photos really captured the love that your friends and family have for you. My personal second favorite memory from the wedding day was when Taylor and Haley busted out with the fancy dance moves while we were taking photos in the sanctuary late at night. So much fun and the Inn at St. John's wedding chapel never looked better!

Jane and Greg's wedding day did not disappoint! We felt like the luckiest team in the world to be able to work with two of the most incredible, kind and compassionate people and take wedding photographs at Oakland Hills Country Club where Greg once worked as a Golf Pro! I hate to admit this but I didn't even know what a golf professional was until I met Jane and Greg. I feel silly but it's true! Jen and Aaron started with Jane and Greg at Oakland Hills where they covered all the bridal party prep and fun before Jane and Greg's first look on the club's famous back porch! I loved their first look and Oakland Hill's back porch was the perfect spot for it.

After their first look and a few family portraits everyone headed over to Holy Name in Birmingham where Jane and Greg tied the knot and made their union official. It was starting to rain so we had to work quickly, but luckily we were able to snap a few lovely images outside the church before the rain came down. After the ceremony it was back to Oakland Hills for an enjoyable wedding reception that knocked our socks off. We LOVE the extra special night photos we captured outside and of course the images of Jane and Greg dancing in the foyer of Oakland Hills Country Club. Congratulations to Jane and Greg!!! We are a little behind with blogging so this post is long overdue, but we wanted to share the images!

Jen says it best, I'm going to turn it over to her and let her tell Ava and Steve's wedding day story!

The weather on Ava and Steve's wedding day was perfect outside, with gentle clouds in the sky and the wind giving off the perfect breeze. Walking into the hotel room at Webers Inn in Ann Arbor where Ava and her girls were getting ready, I instantly felt the love and excitement of the day that was only going to grow as the day went on. Mimosas were flowing and there was so much laughter in the air while everyone finished their makeup and hair. Once Ava had been helped into her dress, and her father had his first look with his daughter, they headed out to the historic St. Thomas the Apostle for their mid-day ceremony. Steve and the guys were at the church, having taken some pre-ceremony pictures earlier in the day while finishing off a few Oberons. Steve waited anxiously for the ceremony to start while their guests filled the pews. Once he saw Ava walking down the aisle though, he seemed to instantly relax and he was all smiles-not taking his eyes off of his bride. After a beautiful ceremony, we took advantage of the churches stonework and the pink blossoms that were gently falling from the trees surrounding it. Once we finished up there, we ran by the U of M Law Quad and The Grotto to finish off their picture perfect bridal session. The party really started once they made their grand entrance back at Weber's Inn. The drinks were flowing, laughter could be heard at every turn and the dance floor was full after the bridal dances. What a FUN celebration and everyone went home full of smiles, laughter and good memories!

Engagement Pictures at Stoney Creek Metropark with Anwesha and Armaan were taken by Jen, one of Southeast Michigan and Detroit's favorite wedding photographers!

Anwesha and Armaan were so much fun to work with! They didn't live in Michigan at the time of their session, but since their wedding was in Michigan, at Planterra to be exact, they flew back to take care of some last minutes preparations and caught up with Jen at Stoney Creek to celebrate their engagement by taking some photographs! What a great time they had as well. I loved Anwesha's dress and how the sand and thought it looked perfect with the sand and water. Jen did a great job caputuring their personalities and showcasing the fun they had.

I have to admit I'm a little behind on blogging, which I apologize for. It's been such a crazy year full of blessings because business is booming! We are back into the full swing of wedding season and I'm vowing to get caught up with blogging along with the regular wedding season fun that we have to tend to. I'll keep the writing short and sweet so I can catch up and you can see some gorgeous photos!

Cayla and Zach couldn't be a lovelier couple and never will you find two people more suited for each other. Cayla's parents worked for the national parks service so she grew up in places like Alaska and oh yeah, yellowstone too! What an amazing journey she had growing up. Well, I guess it's perfect for her that she met Zach who is a REAL farmer! I say real because let's face it, everyone has a garden. But Zach - he has a farm (and a tractor too!). We had the best time working together and Jen and I loved their friends and families! Pine Knob couldn't was so beautiful as the weather was perfect for their outdoor ceremony. They were even able to dance outside under the stars where they had their first dance.

I love Ann Arbor and any chance I get to work there is always a special time for me. What made this Ann Arbor wedding day even more special was being able to spend it with such a love filled, genuine, kind and caring couple! Cameron and Erinn (yes, there are two N's in her name) couldn't be more perfect for each other. I met them as I do everyone and sometimes my couples all blur together after so many years. Every wedding day is special of course, and every couple is special, but after all these years in business I love the fact that I can say there are weddings that always stand out to me. Not to be funny, but sometimes the weddings that stand out are when crazy things happen, like the time a drunken bridesmaid fell asleep during her toast or that wedding where a groomsman forgot to bring his pants and had to borrow a guests pants to walk down the aisle - yes that actually happened. That said, none of those things happened on Erinn and Cameron's wedding day, but their wedding will always be one of my favorites. What happened was something even better. I felt as though I wasn't just working for them, but I could bare witness to this union between two people who love each other selflessly and without fail. I'm not an entirely religious person, but I am a spiritual one. I do believe there is a difference. Erin and Cameron's wedding went off like most Catholic weddings do. They said their vows, gave each other a kiss and then headed to the reception.

Cameron pulled me aside at the reception and told me that he was going to suprise Erinn with a song he composed just for her. I was prepared for him to play the piano, but what I wasn't prepared for what the fact that he had planted several other musicians in the crowd to join in on the composition at different times. As his fingers moved on the keys there was a pause in the melody and everyone heard the soft murmer of a flute joining in. Then, a few moments later we heard a violin as well. The music he created took my breath away and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. To Erinn and Cameron, thank you for allowing us to be there and witness such an incredible celebration of your love! Jen and I left with full hearts and big smiles! xoxoxo

Detroit Engagement Pictures with Simona and Alex were taken by Kellie Saunders, a leading Southeast Michigan and Detroit wedding photographer. Detroit engagment photo locations included the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and the Detroit Riverfront.

Simona and Alex were nothing short of fantastic to work with. I enjoyed every minute of their fun and romantic filled engagement session in Detroit. Their romantic chemistry was off the charts as you can see in the photos. But don't let their sense of romance and connection to each other fool you, this couple always made time to smile, laugh and have some rowdy fun too! I thought they had almost the perfect balance together and I couldn't help but smile the whole time I was working with them.

We started at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) which is one of my favorite places to work. It offers a timeless, classic and clean look for an engagement session, and Simona and Alex wanted to rock out some formal wear so this was the perfect spot to do so. After we shot a bit at the DIA we headed over to a place in Downtown Detroit that I love which is shown below. The architecture is brilliant and Simona and Alex wanted to capture some of Detroit's essence in their photos. After that we ended our session on the riverfront which had the most perfect sunset waiting for us! I don't think it gets much better than this day! I will be sharing Simona and Alex's wedding photos soon, so stay tuned to see how gorgeous their wedding day was.

I had a great time working with Genna and Justin to celebrate their engagement. Sometimes I meet people for the first time at the session, and this was the case with these two. We started out at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) where we used some of the outside features to shoot with. We worked our way around the building and had such a great time laughing and getting to know each other. Genna wanted to have some uniquely Detroit images, so we headed over to Wayne State campus where they have a blue viduct that is actually used as an art piece on Cass Avenue. I believe people actually call it the Cass Avenue Viaduct. I am pleased to say no one was hurt during the taking of their engagement photos at the Cass Avenue Viaduct, although I did dodge a few cars.

Our fun didn't end there. Justin said he wanted to get a shot of the best view of the city, so that's just what we did next. We headed over to the Detroit Riverfront where we climbed a small hill to get a great shot of the Ren Cen and city in the background as the sun set. It was the perfect ending to the perfect engagement session. What a fun time we had! I'll be sharing their Planterra wedding photos soon, so keep a look for my post. Congratulations Justin and Genna! You both rock and I'm so happy you picked me to work with you! I am the lucky one!
