Jessica + Josh | Milford Lazy J Pictures
May 1, 2018
Wedding photos at the Lazy J Ranch in Milford was provided by owner and lead wedding photographer Kellie Saunders and her fantastic friend and lead shooter Leah Moss. They are one of Southeast Michigan's best and most creative wedding photography teams. If you are having your wedding at the Lazy J Ranch, this is the team you want to consider for your wedding photography! I can't say enough wonderful things about the Lazy J Ranch and it's staff! Joe, the owner is such a great person and has always made my couples feel like part of the family. That's the thing with this venue, it can be anything you want. You can have a downhome feel to your wedding and keep it super low key, or you can really do it up and get as swanky as you want. We've shot all kinds of weddings here at the ranch, so I know that Joe and his team will make whatever vision you have come to life for your big day! Let me start this post by talking about Jessica and Josh. When I first met Jessica I felt like we had been friends long before the day we met. She was so comfortable and at home in my studio and we laughed and laughed as she told me all about Josh and her plans for her wedding day. I knew they were my people and this was the wedding for me! (Thank you for picking me Jess!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!) Before I get into their story, which Jessica actually wrote for me - thanks again Jess, I want to tell you about how beautiful their wedding day was. It's no secret that my entire team adores the Lazy J Ranch for weddings! We jump at every opportunity to work there, but for this wedding especially we knew it would be extra special. Jessica's attention to details and love for photographs was second to none so I knew she would have some really fantastic surprises in store for us. I can say that this wedding did not disappoint! Jessica and Josh decided to have a first look in order to make time for more photographs, and I was really happy they did. Their first look was a very special and beautiful moment, shared by just the two of them, and after we all dried our eyes, we had the whole ranch to ourselves for some photographic fun! You can see some of what we captured on the ranch below. After bridal party photos it was time for Jessica and Josh to tie the knot, and they did so outdoors with the most gorgeous blue sky as a backdrop. We aren't always this lucky to get such a nice day, but Jessica and Josh hit the weather jackpot! Jessica was so beautiful walking down the aisle towards her handsome guy. Even though they already saw each other earlier in the day, they still got all the feels during their ceremony, and so did we! Once they said "I do", we sat down for a delicious wedding dinner at the ranch and then made our way to the second barn where DJ Tweezy kept the dance floor rocking all night long. We had a great time working with Jessica, Josh and their friends and families. What a great time and what great people! Congrats Jess and Josh!! Here's what Jessica had to say about her story with Josh. What a great story!!!! "Josh and I met back in middle school and we played soccer together. Our parents both worked for ROYSA soccer and helped bring the love we had for each other to light. We went to different High Schools in Royal Oak, but in our senior year our high schools combined. We started dating on September 9, 2006, the summer before our senior year. We had a great senior year, sharing a few classes together and spending every moment we could together. When it came time to make big decisions about where we were going to college, I decided to stay home, and Josh went to Saginaw Valley State University to play soccer. We had some ups and downs being in a long distance relationship, but our love for each other was strong and we made it through the tough times being apart from each other. After Josh graduated he moved back home and got a job in a neighboring city, and we went back to spending all of our spare time together. In 2013 we decided we wanted to look for a home to buy so we could start our lives together. We found our perfect house in Clawson, close to both of our parents homes, and got a kitty named Lola. We have made our house a home and love every thing about it. Josh proposed on August 26, 2016. Since we had been dating for 10 years I was expecting a proposal, but just not on that day. I had been at a professional development day at school all day and had my brothers 30th birthday party that evening. When i got home there were pictures of Josh and I on the door and I immediately knew Josh was proposing. I always wore an infinity right on my ring finger so i took it off and put it in the pocket of my dress. When i walked in the house there were tons of candles lit, rose petals everywhere, and ten red balloons that lead to the bedroom. On the balloons were pictures of Josh and I throughout the years with loving and sweet words that Josh had written about our love and relationship. As i progressed through the house following the trail of balloons, rose petals and candles I got so excited and tons of butterflies. When i reached our bedroom and read the last message on our picture (a picture where we were a grandma and grandpa for halloween) it said "I can't wait to grow old with you!!". When i opened the bedroom door Josh was standing behind a heart made of rose petals and got down on one knee. I of course said Yes!! It was the best day of our lives."
Kayla and Spencer | Fox Hills Summerhouse Wedding
Apr 25, 2018
Michigan wedding photography for Kayla and Spencer at the beautiful Fox Hills Summerhouse on the Lakes was provided by owner and lead wedding photographer Kellie Saunders and her fantastic friend and lead shooter Leah Moss. They are one of Southeast Michigan's best and most creative wedding photography teams. Where do I even start with how much I loved this wedding and this couple? I don't even know how to tell their story without getting excited because truly Kayla and Spencer were supposed to be together from day one. Kayla and Spencer's story began a long time ago when they were just little kids. Kayla didn't even like boys when she was making her first communion at St. Thomas a' Becket church in Canton, and I'm sure Spencer wasn't fond of girls back then either. Turns out, these two kids didn't know or remember each other during this monumental event in their lives but they were both there, on the same day, making the same first communion. No one was none the wiser until Kayla's mom started looking through some old photographs of Kayla's communion day and happened to see Spencer standing at the side of the aisle as Kayle walked by. Was this a first sign? I'm not sure, but they had a second sign too because while going through the old photographs, once again, Kayla's mom spotted Spencer in a soccer camp that Kayla attended as a little tyke. I don't know about you, but to me, I'm thinking that someone somewhere was telling these two kids something. Well, fast forward and soon Kayla and Spencer ended up in the same middle and high school, and FINALLY they noticed each other during their senior year in high school - and the rest is history and you can see their union and how beautiful their wedding was for yourself below. The wedding day was nothing short of spectacular! Kayla and Spencer were so sweet and kind, as were all of their friends and family. The opted to have a first look to allow for more time for photos and I was so happy they did. Fox Hills was kind enough to provide us all with golf carts to go around the grounds and we could really photograph anywhere as long as we were respectful to the golfers and also to the grounds. Kayla, Spencer and their crew were just that. They had fun and we really were able to get some lovely wedding day photos at Fox Hills for them. I love the Summer House as well because it was an open outdoor option that gave a really unique feel to their day. It was laid back but yet still elegant. Friendly, but classic and timeless. I adored it!!! They were married under a nearby tree which made such a soft and beautiful place to say I do! I really enjoyed working at Fox Hills and I definitely recommend it to any couple considering this as your venue. Kayla and Spencer have been together since that fateful day they finally noticed each other in high school. Now they have purchased their first home, a fixer upper in Livonia and have involved both sides of the family to help work on it. It's brought the two of them closer together and also their families. They are excited to be welcoming their first baby soon!!! Congratulations to Kayla and Spencer! I am so happy for you both and wish you a life of love and laughter!!! Thank you so much for picking us to document your day!
DETROIT WEDDING | ERICA AND ADAM
Apr 23, 2018
Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the beautiful Roostertail provided by lead shooter Jen Stephens, one of Southeast Michigan's most creative photography teams. Jen is a professional wedding photographer with over 12 years of experience and you can book your wedding with her through Kellie Saunders. If you are considering a winter wedding in Detroit, you’ll have to see the images from this December wedding at the Roostertail in Detroit. Once again, Detroit does not disappoint! I was so delighted to see the images that Jen and Aaron took on Erica and Adam's at wedding in Detroit. From the first part of the day at the MGM Grand Hotel downtown, to their wedding portraits at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) to their final destination at the Roostertail on the Detroit River, wow - what gorgeous images! My favorite was looking through their ceremony at the Roostertail. Erica and Adam had an intimate event, with a limited guest list, but don’t think they left out the bling! I was so impressed at the room décor and how every detail was perfected and gorgeous. I especially loved Erica’s tables. See for yourself below. I think you might find some ideas of your own. Now, even though Erica worked with Jen as a lead shooter, I was still involved from behind the scenes, so I was able to chat with her, work on her timeline, edit the images and make sure her experience was smooth and that we exceeded her expectations. Turns out - we did! I am always delighted when couples are happy with the service we provide! You are not just another job to us. We genuinely want to work with couples that we like and couples that like us. We connect with you, because that’s how we can really see you and all the wonderful things that happen on your wedding day to document it in the most authentic way. Here's what Erica had to say about Jen and Aaron."We had Jen and Aaron for the day and we LOVED, LOVED, LOVED these two! Jen is seriously my twin and when I’m back in Michigan or if she’s in Nashville, we’re grabbing a drink together – we had SO much fun with these two! You spend A LOT of time with your photographer(s), so even though how much you like them doesn’t always come as one of your top items on your checklists, it should be! Jen and Aaron not only helped capture moments from what will be one of the best days of our lives, but we had a blast doing it! Tons of laughs, smiles and fun! We had an intimate wedding of 46 people so we only needed them for a short time of 5 hours, but we managed to go to so many locations and snag all the photos we needed and wanted! We’ve only seen the sneak peeks but are supposed to get the full gallery this month and we know based off of what we’ve seen so far that they’ll be wonderful! Family portraits – the things you have to do but no one likes doing them. They were the dream team! Aaron shot the photos while Jen got us all in place and helped grab the kiddo’s attention by making them laugh and smile! We sped through those with ease! I truly was so sad when they had to leave since we had TRULY, the best day ever with them. The day flies by and hubby and I were so glad we were lucky enough to spend it with Jen and Aaron! You’re in great hands!"To Erica and Adam – thank you a million time for trusting us with your memories! We are honored and so happy that you said “yes” to us!!!!
DETROIT WEDDING | MEGAN + MIKE
Jan 29, 2018
Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the elegant Colony Club provided by Kellie Saunders, one of Michigan's best wedding photographers. Megan and Mike's couldn't have had a more lovely wedding day. They picked an April date, which can be tricky with Michigan weather, but they picked the right venues for an April wedding in Detroit. From the ALoft Hotel where they dressed and gussied up for the day to their chosen venue, The Colony Club, nothing could go wrong no matter what the weather brought. These venues offered back up plans galore! Lucky for them, their day was absolutely gorgeous and everything was absolutely perfect for them! We started the day at the ALoft Hotel, which is located in the David A. Whitney building. The architecture of the building is absolutely stunning. After Megan and Mike dressed, they saw each other for the first time at the hotel, where we set them up for a "first look". They decided to do a first look to make more time to venture around the Detroit area for their wedding photos. I'm so happy they did because we had the best time working with them and I love their wedding pictures! We landed at the Detroit Institute of Arts (outside of course) and that's where we spent the most time, but check out their images below. Stunning! After that we traveled to the Colony Club and spent some time outside and also shooting wedding pictures inside the gorgeous building before their ceremony. Megan and Mike kept smiles and laughter on their face the whole day. It was infectious and we were happy to be working with them. They were so easy going and fun! They were up for anything, which is what I adore about them. After the nuptials and their reception, they decided to leave the reception and walk over to the Fox and Comerica Park for a few wedding pictures at night. What fun we had!!! Those images are some of my all time favorites. You can see them below. Congratulations Megan and Mike!!! Thank you for giving us the honor of being with you on your wedding day!!!! Thank you to all of the staff at The Colony Club, who are always so gracious and kind to the vendors who work at their venue.
JENNY AND COLIN | DETROIT WEDDING PICTURES
Jan 19, 2018
Detroit Michigan wedding photography at the elegant Colony Club provided by lead shooter Jen Stephens and Kellie Saunders, one of Southeast Michigan's best creative photography teams. Such a lovely day, filled with so many beautiful people inside and out that we had the pleasure of working with on Jenny and Colin's wedding day. The day started at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance on the river where Jenny and Colin had their first look. There was a festival going on near the Ren Cen, so we walked down to Milliken State Park where Colin and Jenny saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. Although it was a longer walk than we anticipated, the magic in the moments all of us experienced more than made up for it. Jenny and Colin continued on at the park for a few moments so we could take some wedding day portraits of them on the Detroit Riverfront before we headed over to the Z-lot Belt Alley for more wedding pictures. Since time was super short this day, Jen accompanied them to Detroit's famous Belt Alley and Z-lot while I went directly to the Colony Club to set up for family formal portraits and meet with the family members who had already arrived. Jen captured beautiful portraits on the roof at the Z-lot and also in the Belt while I waited for the bus to arrive at the Colony Club. Once Jen and Colin made it to their venue, we didn't miss a beat. We took a few portraits at the Colony Club and then went right into family formals before the two officially tied the knot in front of all their friends and family. The Colony Club ballroom is a classic, elegant and timeless location to exchange wedding vows and we love working there! After Jenny and Colin exchanged vows and shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the staff quickly converted the ceremony site into an absolutely stunning reception space for dinner and dancing. Jenny and Colin celebrated the rest of the night with their loved ones and a good time was had by all! Congratulations Jenny and Colin!!!! We wish you all the love in the world!!!!
